The most wonderful time of the year is also the busiest time of the year. Not only do you need to attend dozens of Christmas parties but you also have to brave the throng of people doing last-minute shopping for presents. Moms make the common mistake of not preparing for this holiday and they tend to get caught up in their own thing that they forget to make it a memorable holiday for the children.
As a parent, you have to remember that kids anticipate the coming of this holiday more than anybody else. They get excited not only because of the presents and the food but also the belief of the birth of the baby Jesus. Children are therefore the center of this holiday. Here are some tips to help you make every Christmas wonderful for your kids.
Plan in advance. This means making your Christmas list AND shopping months in advance. Don’t get trapped in the mad Christmas rush. Some parents leave the shopping last because they’re either too busy or they think that they can get a better bargain come Christmas. The second notion is not true. Prices of toys and clothes become more expensive during Christmas.
What you can do is to purchase items gradually at least a month or two in advance. You can take advantage of the many store sale. What’s more, you can budget your money more efficiently. But be sure to find a good hiding spot for these gifts to preserve those priceless Christmas gift unwrapping moments. The basement, the attic or your own closet are great hiding places.
Decide what to give your kids. Educational things are always great items to give away but also consider that they are still kids and they might want something fun. Basketballs, baseball mittens and video games are great presents for boys. Dolls, kitchenware sets and jewellery are perfect for girls. When giving jewellery to children, don’t give them expensive gold pieces. They are still kids and could be careless with their things. However, silver jewellery is both cool and inexpensive for older kids. Younger children will appreciate pink plastic rings, bracelets and necklaces with princess themes.
Memorable Christmas Activities. Bring your kids to their grandparents for Christmas or you can invite them over. After unwrapping their presents, you could take them to the local skating rink or to the park to make snow angels. You can also include them in parties by inviting your friends’ kids over. There are dozens of activities that you can do to make their Christmas truly memorable.
