This is with the exception of the bride herself, of course. Flower girls and ring bearers are beautiful additions to the wedding ceremony.

It shows our tradition of including children in this ceremony of renewal, hope and commitment. Weddings are primarily family affairs so it’s also a great way for the old and young members to meet. If you are the proud mother of the adorable flower girl or the cute ring bearer, here are a few tips to make your little bundle of joy beautiful and in his and her best behavior.

1. Before anything else, ask if he or she wants to be a part of the wedding. Some kids actually end up crying or giving tantrums on the wedding day itself because they do not want to be there. Explain the importance the event and his or her role. If your child knows what he or she is suppose to do there and says yes willingly, then you can at least be assured that he or she wants to be the flower girl or the ring bearer.
2. Be there with your child on the rehearsal dinner and fittings. This will assure you kid that you support them and that there is no need for apprehensions. It’s also a good thing that your child knows the bride or groom’s family so that he or she will be at ease and will have more fun on the date itself.
3. The night before the wedding, make sure that your child is properly rested and sleeps early. Make sure that she gets enough rest so that he or she can wake up bright and early the next morning.
4. On the day of the wedding, dress your child an hour or two before the wedding so that the dress or suit will not be crumpled. You can start with the hair first before putting on the dress. Flowers or a hair pin can be great accessories for the hair. Make your daughter feel extra pretty with a pair of beautiful birthstone earrings or a simple gold necklace. You also have the option of letting her wear a pretty bracelet. You little boy will look great in his small suit and his dad’s cufflinks.
5. Now, there’s nothing left for your precious one but to walk down the aisle with a pretty smile. Take lots of picture and enjoy the moment.

This might seem a nightmarish scenario for you children having short attention spans but children are never too young to be exposed to music, films and museums. The younger they are the better. Children can be inspired by external stimuli and their minds absorb information like a sponge. That’s why it’s easier to teach kids who are younger because of their enthusiasm and curiosity.

However, if you do plan to take them to watch their first musical performance or a movie, you might want to ask these questions before you do? First, exactly how old should you start bringing them to theatres and music halls? You can bring kids to movies as early as five years old but it would be best to wait for them to turn seven before you consider bringing them to performances that require more concentration and time.

Second, you’d also want to ask yourself what kind of performances you would be taking them. If it is a musical, would they like the singer? It’s actually advisable to take your kids to musical performances as opposed to concerts. Although it would be fun to bring them to their favorite pop singers’ concerts, once in a while you can take them to a piano recital or an orchestra.

This can improve your child’s musical range, especially if he or she is taking music lessons. Explain to them the event you will be attending and ask them is they would like to come. Musical performances would also require a more refined dress code so it’s a great time for your daughter to wear her lovely new dress.

You can even make the event special by having her wear your gold necklace with the cross pendant or the white gold one with the beautiful heirloom locket. You can even make it a mom-and-daughter affair by wearing matching pearl chokers. For your little boy, he will look dashing in his suit and tie and a classic watch to complete the outfit.

Taking them to movies is easier since there are a plethora of Disney movies with kid-friendly themes. You can always have them choose the movies and they would be more at ease since it wouldn’t require them to dress up.

On easy Saturdays, you can take your kids to the museum. As I’ve said, it’s never too late to expose them to cultural and historical stimuli. Anthropological museums will appeal to your kids with its display of dinosaurs and prehistoric people. This will also create a genuine love for learning and knowledge in your kids.

Birthdays are one of the most special celebrations for any child. Younger children have a different understanding of how truly a special day it is. But when they turn eight years old, they now acquire a different perspective, especially for girls.

A perfect birthday party would be a sweet eight birthday party where your little girl can experience an initiation into girlhood. This would require a little degree of formality where you can invite her friends wearing dressy casual outfits. Imagine a garden afternoon setting with picnic chairs and tables spread out and fresh flowers adorn the table. The girls would be dressed in pretty pastel dresses and the boys in cool sweaters and light-colored slacks.

This is actually the perfect time for you to introduce your little girl to the benefits of being in a semi-formal setting and to give them a chance to experience this. A sweet eight birthday party requires planning as any birthday would. First thing’s first, consider the logistics. Afternoons are great for this type of party since it wouldn’t be too hot. You can choose your garden as the location but if you lack the required space, you can also rent a place or even ask permission from the parks committee to throw the party in your community park. The latter would take more time and planning but you can achieve this by planning everything in advance.

Invitations should be sent in at least one to two weeks in advance. Having them RSVP will make your job easier and the budget planning a breeze. Choose a simple design in pink or ivory color. Remember to place the dress code for the party and have the parents RSVP on this. In keeping with the theme of the party, choose food that will reflect tradition elegance and simplicity. Pasta-based food is perfect, as well as hors d’ouevres as appetizers.

This may be a sweet classical party but try to inject fun into it. How about an old-fashioned game of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and trip to Jerusalem? And this may is the perfect time to initiate your daughter and her friends into the fine art of dancing. All in all, make the affair sweet and simple.

And on her eight birthday, nothing says elegance as beautiful jewellery as a gift. Maybe you can give your daughter her first pearl necklace or a lovely pair of pearl earrings. As an alternative, a beautiful gold necklace with a locket will make her the center of her party. Your gift of jewellery will make your daughter appreciate the essence of tradition.

This is our own big day! We look forward to this every year. For a little girl’s birthday, it makes a big difference when jewellery is given. She will grow up having the appreciation for jewellery.

Perhaps the reason for this is because they are shiny, small, colorful and fun. Receiving jewellery enables kids to appreciate and understand the essence of beautiful objects. They develop a talent to appreciate beauty from gifts they receive.

These days, the small category of children’s jewellery gifts has become more popular especially if these are given on very special occasions such as birthdays.
An ideal gift for a special little girl is a unique and customized charm bracelets. These can be made of any material. The best are made of sterling silver and 14k gold. Charm bracelets bring out a little girls’ creativity as she can mix and match this with any charms she wishes. Charms come in different sizes and figures. They are almost anything imaginable such shoes, hearts, butterflies, cartoon characters and a lot more. Commonly, charms are painted with enamel. The more expensive ones have gemstones and other materials incorporated in them. Charm bracelets have the potential to be the most beloved item. But you have to make sure that the locks or clasps are well designed to prevent it from getting lost.

Children’s earrings should not be forgotten when thinking of giving children jewellery gifts. The best options are 14k gold as little girls would love the feel and the look of this precious metal. Compared to 18k gold earrings that adults wear, children’s earrings are lighter and fun which makes it perfect when worn at school, at home or anywhere else. Like charms, they also come in various designs.

Little girls will surely love wearing these as they come in different sizes and shapes like teddy bears, hearts, ladybugs, butterflies, cats, dogs and anything that you can imagine. Others come in simple designs or mounted with diamonds, pearls or birthstones.

Giving your little ones with children’s jewellery may cost more than the traditional and common gifts that we used to give. But the feeling of giving something that is meaningful and lasting is priceless. The best thing about this is that jewellery gift will last forever.

So, when that special little girl outgrows her first jewellery item, she can keep this and save it and later on pass it to her own children.

Usually held during Christmas or New Year, family reunions can be a wonderfully fun way for your children and their cousins to meet and catch up. This event makes your filial bonds stronger and will help you create a lasting relationship with your family.

As much as it is an important event for the grown-ups, it’s also a great time for the little ones to enjoy family life. If it’s your turn to host your family’s annual gathering, this could present a lot of problems for you. The planning can be grueling which includes planning the menu and the activities for the day.

Party planning requires great logistics too. What if your family from another State will be coming over to attend the reunion? What if your house is too small to accommodate your whole family? You have to consider that there will also be kids around.

So first, call everyone in your family and confirm who is coming. This will at least give a bird’s eye view of what your budget would be. Check if anyone from out of state is coming over and who are bringing kids. If your guest room will not accommodate all your guests, call the nearest inn and ask for their rates. If you book a room earlier, you can get a discount.

However, only do this if the family member is already sure that he or she will be coming.
Food should be simple fare. A turkey will make a great centerpiece and your mother’s potato salad and apple pie are staples that should always be in the table. Keep in mind also that kids will be coming over so prepare special treats like lemon squares, brownies and cookies.

Plan activities for kids, this way, you and the other grown-ups will have the time for catch-up conversation. Assign one of older kids to think of games and be the moderator.

Last but not the least, before the big day itself, pick out a beautiful dress for your daughter and a snazzy sweater for your little boy. You can showcase you family heirlooms by having your daughter wear them on reunion day. She can finally wear that matching mother-daughter pearl necklace you gave her on her last birthday or the beautiful pair of emerald earrings her grandmother gave her last Christmas.

Your son will also look casual and clean in his solid-colored sweater and light-colored pants. Making your home look beautiful and preparing a delicious meal will set the right mood for the reunion.

A unique gift that you can give to little girls this holiday season is something that is always a hit to them - jewellery. Young girls will love necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Why not give them just that. Here are children’s jewellery gift ideas that will help you get that perfect gift.

Be more creative with these memorable items by getting several small gifts or trinkets such as gift cards, art sets and puzzles. Place these in a box together with your ‘main gift’ which is the jewellery set in a special box. Your kids will surely love wearing their Christmas jewellery gifts. It’s not only the physical act of dressing your child but also the fact that what you think looks good on them may not be necessarily be true to your kids or other people.

Comfort is also one thing to consider. Children are very active people and their clothes should not get in the way because doing so will restrict their imagination and learning. So how can you exactly dress your children properly? Here are a few tips.

1. Playtime. Comfort is the key. Think loose clothing like shirts and shorts. Toddler clothes should be functional and fun, in bright colors and preferably cotton material. In the fall and winter, dress them in warm clothes but keep it as comfortable as you can. For the older kids, comfort is still important but they are now capable of choosing t-shirt prints and colors. When you shop for clothes, make sure you bring them along. Kids don’t like to try out clothes but having them choose the color and design will make it easier for them to wear the clothes they themselves pick out.
2. School. As with playtime, school clothes should also be very comfortable. Stock on scarves and jackets for your little ones. It’s best to go with jackets that are a little bigger because they grow up fast and will grow out of one in a matter of months. Boys are low-maintenance and can look good in just basic t-shirts and jeans . For the older girls, pants and skirts are staples and choose those with garter belts so they can use them longer.
Accessories for girls, even at a young age are a must so you can have your little girl wearing silver necklaces in colored crystal pendants. It’s actually very inexpensive to have a signature accessory with just a necklace by buying for her different pendants like cameos, lockets and silver pendants. Backpacks are also a necessity and purchase the top-of-the-line ones because these are sturdier and will last them the whole year and even the next.
3. Special Events. This would include birthdays, family parties, Christmas gatherings and so on. Your little tykes would look like little angels in pressed polo shirts and cute little dresses. Your little boy would look dashing in a miniature version of a suit. Your little girl would look pretty in pastel dress with a pearl necklace to match. Remember though to keep it simple and as fuss-free as you can.

This special day is meant not only for grown ups but for little sweethearts as well. This is when grown ups should take extra time to show our precious little ones how much we love them.

Commonly, chocolates in heart shaped boxes, flowers and the traditional cards are handed out. Now is the right time to be different. Give something different! Take this day as an opportunity to be creative and turn the regular Valentine’s Day into something special and unique.

Make this Valentine’s Day special and memorable for your little ones. It would be lovely and sweet to give them a gift that will last forever- the gift of jewellery. Fine jewellery can be made of any material like sterling silver but those in 14k gold or even platinum will be most precious.

Necklace for little girls come in pendants with different sizes and shapes but for Valentine’s Day, choose a heart-shaped one. You can even inscribe your little one’s name on it.

Lockets: Have your child’s initials engraved on the outer covering and a picture of her or place a special memento inside.

Earrings. Heart-shaped earrings are preferred for the occasion. They can come in small, plain heart designs or these can be made of a birthstone in precious metal like 14k gold or sterling silver.

Bracelets. These are fun gifts and little girls will surely love them. There are a wide variety of charms to choose from. A good suggestion is heart-shaped charms in variety of sizes and colors.

And let’s not forget our little boys. For them, watches or ID bracelets personalized with their initials or their names will make a great gift.

Surely, these gifts will bring them lots of love and sweet memories. They will always remember this particular Valentine’s Day when they received their unique gift. They will always remember you!

In conclusion, there are countless items that you can give as a Valentine’s Gift for your precious little ones. You can go from teddy bears, to shirts, toys and games or something that they enjoy now, but eventually they will get tired of. Give something they will appreciate now until they grow old.

Perhaps your gift of jewellery will be passed from generation to generation. The thought of this will certainly please you because you know that with the gift of jewellery you give, you have made your little darling happy and provide memories to last a lifetime. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
